Loxodromic Panel

Commissioned by the Yale Mathematics Department, this carved wall panel pairs black walnut laminated onto maple with two converging spiral forms. Inspired by loxodromic geometry, the pattern gives a mathematical idea a tactile form. Light and shadow bring out the depth of the sculpted surface and the contrast between the woods.
